IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, MOST GRACIOUS, MOST MERCIFUL

MUSLIM MEDICAL STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION OF GHANA (MUMSAG)- KNUST

HISTORY- MUMSAG-KNUST was formed on the 10th of October, 2000, by a group of Muslim Medical Students in KNUST.

MEMBERSHIP

This includes all Muslim students in the College of Health Sciences, KNUST, upon registration. Other individuals may be granted membership based on consideration by the Executives of the association. Members pay a 5 cedi amount every semester as dues for the running of the association.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

1P[) Promoting the spread of medical knowledge that will benefit our communities as well as probing into ethical issues concerning Muslims and  their practice

2) O Organisation of health educational campaigns in our communities

3) O Organising religious and social activities among members

4) P Promoting the spirit of unity among Muslims for the good of humanity

ACTIVITIES

1) Regular meetings

2) Career guidance and counselling sessions for Senior High School Students

3) Organisation of Medical Outreach programmes including screening exercises and health talks

CHALLENGES

1) II Inadequate funding for various programmes

2) A Apathy of some members

MUMSAG-KNUST from its early days, had the complement of Muslim students in Pharmacy and Herbal Medicine Departments until there was a split. This year however, there has been a merger of both associations and a new name will be subsequently outdoored (Muslim Health Science Students Association of Ghana –MUHSAG).
