Today, we are talking to quite an interesting individual here in SMS, Zaher Safadi. Hopefully we might dig up some stuff on the upcoming dinner. Enjoy!
WC: Hello, could you please tell us your name and a bit about yourself, family, where you live, hometown, description of your traits and attributes, likes and dislikes?
ZS : My name is Zaher Safadi, I’m 24 yrs old, was born in Damascus, Syria in 1987. My family is currently living in Accra. I only have one younger sister who got married last year in 2010. I’m generally down-to-earth, I like making friends and I enjoy the occasional party or two.
WC: Please tell us a little about your educational background.
ZS: I had my kindergarten, Primary and Junior high school at Christ The King Int. School in Accra which I completed in 2002, I then had my Senior high school at Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC) which I completed in 2005. Now I’m here in KNUST…
WC: Born in Syria, bred in Gh. Any Hobbies?
ZS: I play video games, read, swim and I really enjoy driving…
WC: Driving? So what motivated you to become a Doctor? Why not become the next Michael Schummacher?
ZS: As far as i remember, way back in primary school, I was quite fascinated with dentists and teeth… Used to imagine myself being a dentist and it felt good. I guess Dentistry was my calling..
WC: “Medicine / Dentistry is not a profession, it is a calling” quoting Father! So what are your impressions about SMS so far?
ZS: I’m happy here and I think SMS is the best medical school in Ghana but I wouldn’t just begin boasting because I feel there is more room for improvement.
WC: What is your current grabbing Status?
ZS: I am in a relationship…
WC: Hmmm, I must note, not too much detail there. We hear u. Do you mind sharing your plans for the future?
ZS: My immediate plans are all related to the current theme which is ‘Lifestyle Diseases’ , we recently had a mini-clinic here in Kumasi at the new melcom plus, we hope to undertake other similar projects soon. One particular one of interest is the mini-clinic going to take place at the Accra Mall during the health week in October.
As of long term ambitions and plans, I hope to continue serving MSA and assisting both current and future executives. I might even consider standing for a position in the executive body in the near future…
WC: Hey, you seem to have been keeping us on our toes about this year’s dinner, we won’t let you go till you give us more information about how it’s going down…just a gist.
ZS: Well currently we’ve made headways into aspects like the venue, the side attractions and food… We are hoping to start sales of tickets to the Dinner very soon.
We also will be coming around every class, give a presentation and make ourselves available for any enquiries…
WC: Any piece of advice or secret to surviving SMS you want to leave with us?
ZS: Well as a piece of advice to incoming freshers, I would advise that they take the early courses like genetics and organic chemistry very seriously because it will be of use for them later… As for the Anatomy , Biochemistry and Physiology, it’s best if they continuously study and not leave information to pile up before an exam or assessment.. The same applies to the courses in third year…esp Pharmacology and Microbiology.
WC. Thank you so much for your time and everything and particularly whetting our appetite for the upcoming dinner. We are looking forward to a fantastic time.
